In 1965, a Nashville woman named Evelyn lost her husband, leaving her with four children and no means of support.
Known for her cakes, pies, and donuts, Evelyn decided to open a restaurant. The Daylight Donut Shoppe became famous for its pies, especially the secret family recipe Chocolate Cream. It was a place for the community to gather and enjoy treats made with real ingredients.
One of those children was our founder’s mother. He grew up in a home where baking meant love, wisdom, comfort, and joy.
Magnolia-Star Baking Co. honors Evelyn: the entrepreneur and provider who turned hardship into sweet new beginnings.
