Almond Bars

Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Magnolia-Star Almond Extract

 

For the almond filling:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon Magnolia-Star Almond Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Sliced almonds for topping
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, softened butter, granulated sugar, and almond extract for the crust. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press the crust mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  4. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until it's lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  5. While the crust is baking, prepare the almond filling. In a separate bowl, combine the almond flour, powdered sugar, melted butter, eggs, almond extract, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  6. Pour the almond filling over the baked crust, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of the almond filling for added texture and decoration.
  8. Place the pan back into the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are golden brown.
  9. Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, slice the almond bars into squares or rectangles.
  11. Serve and enjoy these delicious almond bars!
